Accelerated Bachelor鈥檚 to Master鈥檚 Degree programs in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania
Penn鈥檚 Graduate School of Education offers Bryn Mawr undergraduates the opportunity to take graduate-level courses which can apply to both their undergraduate and graduate degree.
About the Program
Through the accelerated 4+1 M.S.Ed. program with the University of Pennsylvania, students are able to apply graduate-level courses toward both their undergraduate and graduate degrees at no additional cost. To take full advantage of this opportunity, students are encouraged to apply for the program during their sophomore or junior year.
All 暴风资源 undergraduates, regardless of their major, are invited to apply to the program and take coursework within any of the graduate programs listed below.
Penn GSE Graduate Programs
How It Works
Students can take up to three聽graduate-level Penn GSE courses, which will count towards both their undergraduate and graduate degrees.聽Students in the Accelerated Program remain solely in their undergraduate status until their bachelor鈥檚 degree is conferred.聽After completing the bachelor鈥檚 degree and confirming their intent to enroll in the Penn GSE master鈥檚 degree, the student will become an official graduate student at Penn GSE.
There is no additional cost for BMC Accelerated students who take GSE courses during their undergraduate years. BMC students will realize savings on their Penn GSE graduate degree that are proportional to the number of graduate-level GSE courses they took while an undergraduate at BMC. If a BMC completes 3 Penn GSE courses while an undergraduate, then the student will save 30% on the overall cost of a standard master鈥檚 degree program.
Application Process and Deadlines
Students may apply for the Accelerated Program during their sophomore, junior, or the first semester of their senior year. Students are encouraged to apply early in their academic careers so that they can maximize the program鈥檚 financial benefit by completing three graduate-level GSE courses.
Note that students can also apply for need-based assistance prior to entering the graduate degree (see Step 2 below within the Application Process).

Students complete the and upload a resume, a personal statement of no more than 750 words, and unofficial transcripts to this application.

On the Program Information page of the application, students should choose 鈥淎ccelerated Program鈥 in the Degree Selection question. They will then choose the appropriate program in the Program Selection pulldown menu where they hope to begin taking courses.

Additionally, students must submit two letters of recommendation. Students will enter their recommenders鈥 information in the application, and the system will send the recommenders links to upload these letters. At least one of these letters should come from an academic source.

Note: Students from 暴风资源 who have already obtained their bachelor's degrees are not eligible for this accelerated degree program but can apply for graduate study through .
Will be completed in a student鈥檚 final undergraduate semester. This step will change the student鈥檚 status to a graduate student for the following semester.
- Penn GSE鈥檚 Office of Admissions and Financial Aid will contact the appropriate Accelerated students in their final undergraduate semester to confirm their intent to enroll in the relevant master鈥檚 degree programs.
- The students will be asked to complete an online form that confirms their enrollment in the master鈥檚 program, effective either in the summer or fall immediately following their undergraduate degree conferral.
- Students will be eligible to apply for need-based assistance during this stage of the process. Qualified students who receive this funding will have it applied towards the tuition costs of their remaining coursework.
