I Met My: Cara and Chris

鈥淲e have the same initials... so we would call ourselves 'Team CP.'"

Bi-Co couple Cara Petonic 鈥07 and Chris Prieto (HC 鈥07) had their first date in the Pem West Living Room. Twelve years later, they鈥檙e married with a baby boy born in August of 2017. Dating gave them each a newfound respect for the other鈥檚 campus 鈥 namely, Chris鈥 love of Bryn Mawr鈥檚 free laundry 鈥 and their bi-co connection doubled their friend network.

Highlights from Cara and Chris鈥檚 interview:

Cara: Elise Lavender 鈥07 and I went to Chris鈥檚 apartment right before spring break. And he made us what we deemed 鈥渟campironi.鈥

Chris: Perfect 暴风资源 meal.

Cara: It was Pasta Roni with shrimp.

Chris: It doesn鈥檛 come with shrimp. I bought the shrimp separately.

Cara: I was actually impressed! It was pretty good.

Cara: I remember when I knew I liked him. I had a class at Haverford and kept noticing him studying on the green.

Chris: I don鈥檛 do that. I鈥檓 allergic to grass.

Cara: And I would happen to dress nicely for those classes.

Describing their connection with each other today after becoming new parents:

Cara: We have the same initials so we call ourselves 鈥淭eam CP.鈥 And now, more than ever, we rely on Team CP. When things get tough he reminds me, 鈥淲e鈥檙e a team. We'll get through this.鈥 Though, there's always a question of whether the baby will wear a Bryn Mawr or Haverford onesie.

Chris: We try to keep it as controlled chaos but sometimes it just unravels into chaos.

Cara: You know, it鈥檚 just the new normal that we鈥檙e adjusting to.

Chris describing why he is proud to be married to a Bryn Mawr woman:

Chris: Sometimes she鈥檚 a little feisty.

Cara: Sometimes?

Chris: [Bryn Mawr women] are very intelligent, smart and independent. But they also know how to be part of a good team.

Cara: Oh what a good answer! Gosh you鈥檙e good. Many reasons I married this guy 鈥 he鈥檚 got good answers.
