Penny Price '90 and her high school sweetheart, Brad, kept their love alive while attending different ±©·ç×تش´s thanks to Penny's involvement on the “new†Internet at Bryn Mawr.
"I met my husband in high school. He went to Lehigh University, but we communicated every day in ±©·ç×تش´ on Bitnet (“Because It’s Time Networkâ€), a university computer network that became part of the early Internet.
Freshman year, I found my way into working at the Computer Center, which was located in the basement of the newly built Guild Hall, and stayed there all four years of ±©·ç×تش´.
Working at the Computer Center not only gave me, a history major, specific skills that helped me land my first job, but it also gave me daily access to the Vax terminals where I could email my boyfriend and keep our love alive!"
(Editor’s note: Penny and Brad are married and have two children.)
