Career+Civic: Civic Love Conversations
Join us for an interactive experience where you鈥檒l be paired with a partner and explore 36 guided questions that invite reflection, listening, and connection. 36 Questions for Civic Love is a tool created by the National Public Housing Museum, based on psychologist Arthur Aron and Detroit-based organizer Grace Lee Boggs鈥 work. According to the NPHM, 鈥淐ivic Love is one鈥檚 love for society, expressed through a commitment to the common good. It is a belief in the idea that we鈥檙e all better off, when we are all better off. We manifest Civic Love through all kinds of actions鈥攙olunteering, marching, speaking against systemic injustice, making reparations鈥攁nd always with the love itself is the emotional heart of the work.鈥 During the event, you'll sit with a partner and explore 36 questions together. Think questions like: What's your favorite kitchen smell? What is the best thing I can eat in your neighborhood? Describe your favorite place you've ever lived. This activity allows participants to explore how Civic Love has appeared in their lives and how we can apply the lens of Civic Love to our communities.
