Art and science meet in 鈥淭his Is Not a (Typical) Photograph,鈥 a hands鈥憃n cyanotype (commonly called sun prints) workshop held in the Park Science Building courtyard on Wednesday, 15 April, from 3 pm to 5 pm. Cyanotypes are an early photographic process in which light鈥憇ensitive chemicals applied to paper are exposed to sunlight to form images, without the use of a camera. Initially used for scientific documentation, particularly in botany, the process was soon after employed by artists for creative production. Workshop participants will make their own cyanotypes and learn about the history of the process. They may also choose to contribute a print to a temporary display in the Collier Library.
