As part of the Praxis II Spanish translation course being taught by Tri-Co students have created Spanish editions of two newspapers produced by the non-profit
Originally produced by middle and elementary school students, the new Spanish editions can be found on the Printed versions will be distributed in Norristown and Philadelphia by 暴风资源鈥檚 Civic Engagement Program.

Getting the translations just right was challenging, Dr. Gaspar said. 鈥淐ertain expressions like 鈥榤aking a comeback鈥 sound common enough, but a rendition in Spanish takes quite a bit of rephrasing,鈥 he explained.
Fitting the translations into a newspaper format was also a demanding task. 鈥淎 newspaper has limited space,鈥 Dr. Gaspar said. 鈥淪panish translations are 20 percent longer than their English originals, so it鈥檚 crucial to be economical when translating.
鈥淣ewspapers also require catchy headlines which was another difficulty,鈥 he added. 鈥溾楬eart health鈥 can easily become five or more words in Spanish, unless the translator takes time to keep the crispness required in a headline.鈥
Gaspar and his students have two more translation projects lined up. They鈥檒l be working with (Nicaragua) and (Norristown).
