The Committee is composed of students, staff, and faculty from across campus and meets approximately three or four times during an academic year. Each year, the focus and/or goals of the Committee center around the question, “How do we develop the understanding and awareness, among all members of our community, that accessibility is a campus-wide issue and needs campus-wide support and participation?”

Mission Statement

The College is committed to maintaining an environment in which all members of the community—staff, students and faculty—are treated with respect and dignity. The mission of the Accessibility Leadership Committee is to raise awareness that accessibility is the responsibility of the entire College community. The Committee guides the College on its path to moving beyond compliance to build an innovative and inclusive social, physical, and educational environment.

By working to ensure that each Bryn Mawr student has full access to their educational experience and that the community benefits fully from all its students, the Committee sees itself as advancing the mission of the College. 

Subcommittees

In the Fall 2025 semester, the Accessibility Leadership Committee worked to outline, define, and implement a subcommittee structure that supported an action-oriented approach to accessibility across our campus. The Subcommittees are outlined below.

Student Experience

The purpose of the Subcommittee on Student Experience is to identify, address, and remove accessibility barriers that impact the full participation, inclusion, and success of students across all aspects of campus life. The subcommittee will collaborate with campus stakeholders on projects that advance accessible, equitable, and student-centered practices to foster a campus environment in which students can thrive academically, socially, and personally. 

Universal Design for Learning and Faculty Support

The purpose of the Subcommittee on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Faculty Support is to promote the continued adoption and implementation of Universal Design for Learning principles across campus to ensure an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all students. The subcommittee will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to advance UDL strategies and practices, ensuring that learning experiences are designed to meet the diverse needs of all learners. 

Accessible Campus Infrastructure

The purpose of the Subcommittee on Accessible Campus Infrastructure is to evaluate, recommend, and support improvements that ensure the campus’ built environment, technology systems, administrative procedures, and digital content are accessible, inclusive, and usable by all members of the campus community. The subcommittee will collaborate across departments to advance institutional commitments to accessibility, equity, and universal participation.
